Meaning of Style:

  • Described as a course that explores how fashion and dress can be interpreted. “We will study the cultural history of fashion in depth (c. 1500-present), and the place of fashion in today’s world, complemented by field studies.”
  • Mix of lecture and discussions
  • 3 main papers through semester
  • Nice change from Bates classes

Sports Economics:

  • The course has its focus on where and how the sports industry differs from traditional industries; in theory, methodology and practice. The aim is to give the students knowledge, understanding, and a toolbox to be applied in potential future work within the sports industry or the context of the experience economy.
  • Taught by 2 professors
  • Planning trips to soccer and ice hockey games

Shadow Wars: Fake News and Hybrid Warfare:

  • The objectives of this course are to provide students with a broad-ranging knowledge of the security issues facing todays Europe. Furthermore, the course will give the students a solid knowledge about Russia and Russian politics in relation to European and US security issues today.
  • Mostly discussion based
  • Heavy emphasis on Russia in Ukraine

Danish Language and Culture I Section 127:

  • This course is an integrated language and culture course. We will study different aspects of Danish culture and we will operate with a complex view on culture through various representations. The focus will be on dominant national narratives, values, and symbolism, which we will approach from both a historical and contemporary perspective.
  • 50/50 culture and language emphasis
  • Danish is hard!
